NFL betting picks for every game during the 2018 season

Below, you’ll find picks for every NFL game in Week 5, along with The Game Picks strategy guide. Each of our experts took a different approach when picking for their respective games.

Miami Dolphins at Chicago Bears

Expert Pick Score (if applicable) Jeff Ratcliffe (PFF) Bears N/A Steve Palazollo (PFF) Dolphins N/A Dan Graziano (ESPN) Bears N/A Mike Golic (ESPN) Bears N/A Pete Prisco (CBS Sports) Bears N/A

The game between these two AFC East teams is obviously loaded with meaning, and each of our experts has a strong case for picking the winner. For instance, Dan Graziano thinks it’ll be a high-scoring game with the Bears squeaking out a win. The Dolphins have been tough to bet, with five games under their belt but just one of them over the favored point spread (Week 1 vs. Tennessee).

I’m also picking the Dolphins to cover the spread, but that’s because I think the Bears will get off to a slow start offensively (see my Team Analysis below). I also think the Bears will rely heavily on their defense to win, which is a risky proposition against a team like Miami that has an explosive offense. They’re currently 10th in total offense, and will have an extra day of rest compared to the Dolphins. But if the Bears fall behind early in this game, it could be a struggle to come back.

Atlanta Falcons at Pittsburgh Steelers

Expert Pick Score (if applicable) Jason La Canfora (CBS Sports) Steelers N/A Jeremy Bergman (NFL.com) Falcons N/A Chris Simms (Bleacher Report) Steelers 28-24 Sam Cooper (Pick Watch) Falcons N/A Adam Rank (NFL.com) Steelers 27-19 Pete Prisco (CBS Sports) Falcons N/A

Are the Atlanta Falcons the team that looks lost to open the season or are they the team that will come out of the bye week and perform in a big way?

Sam Cooper thinks it’ll be the latter, as he sees the Steelers rolling to another victory. He sees them up by a touchdown by halftime, and the second half being more of a defensive battle than offensive. But if the Falcons can get up to a certain point, then he thinks this game will be a big homecoming for Falcons running back Tevin Coleman, who is from Pittsburgh.

And that will be one of the big stories of this game. The Steelers have the best wide receiver duo in football, but the Falcons can match them in that department. Mohamed Sanu has found success this season, and he’ll likely get a great matchup with the Steelers’ star cornerback, Joe Haden.

The game features a lot of mismatches that will keep it interesting.
